Alex Mazey

‘Works eight hours a night so he can sing/Wagner, the opera you hate most/the worst music ever invented.’ I think Philip Levine was writing about his brother here. Truth is, I don’t like Wagner either. I like long walks on the beach and candle lit dinners; piña coladas and getting caught in the rain. In another poem, Levine writes; ‘some things you know all your life.’ Sure, I know what I enjoy now, but it wasn’t always like that.
