M.I.C’s, ‘Heaven Is Black’, takes us back and forth through the fragility of the mind — battling with identity, relationships and mental health.
“I started making music because I was coming to terms with traumatic events and I needed a means of expression. My mum told my auntie she cried the first time she heard my music — I think they both did. It just goes to show the emotional impact that music has on us. It’s a magical thing.”
Alongside the warping sounds of London’s wind, M.I.C gave us a few words on making music in London:
“At its best, making music in London is incredible. A lot of horrible things happen, like nepotism, and how some businesses run on a moral level. But I think there’s also a lot of beauty to be seen, and fun to be had, as an artist in London.”
