We asked Mummy to talk about the struggle of being in a band and keep afloat in London, having to listen to people talking nonsense, with the constant effort to create and release.
It’s hard enough having to try and financially get by in London without paying for rehearsals, transport, recording, maintaining equipment, the list and costs are endless. Being in a DIY band has to be a labour of love otherwise nobody would do it.
You spend months and years crafting your live shows to have some people tell you that your amazing and they can make you a star, and others who say you need to be more like someone they like, (both have no real understanding of anything).
Being in a band is the best and worst thing. From struggling to manage social media updates, battling algorithms keeping on top of teaser videos, and being lords of the meme. It’s hard to keep a constant engagement, especially while holding down jobs and real social life.
Times can be tough, especially now we are locked up focussed on screens for our cranial nourishment. Still, as long as you make an effort to sort the wheat from the chaff, you can keep your brain healthy.
