Don makes up one half of The DarkHouse Family and is known for taking his listeners on extensive journeys through his projects. ‘Steel Zakuski’ is no different. An exploration of the late ’70s and early 80’s USSR marked the beginning of the end for Soviet rule in Russia.

Much like Madlib in India, Don uses alternative cultures to inspire his beats, and also, like Madlib, lets the beats speak for themselves in their original glory. This resulted in the album being nominated for the Welsh Music Prize 2020. It did not win but further reinforced Don’s influence and prowess within the scene and earnt him a spot on the WMP in Conversation with the esteemed Mr Andy Votel.

Don Leisure released ‘Steel Zakuski’ in June last year, and now it has been pressed onto four colour variants vinyl plus limited-edition Obi Strips of both colourways. These are available to buy from Group BraCil’s Bandcamp.
