The illusion of control

Blackpool noise purveyors Strange Bones are back with a thrilling new single, ‘Vicious’. Vocalist Bobby Bentham calls the song “a reaction to the illusion of control, in a hyper-normal world. Nobody knows what’s real and what’s fake anymore.”

With a video that gives a nod to the VHS punk shows that Bentham’s parents used to record, the single mixes elements of electronic and punk to create something as sinister as it is satisfying. For Bentham, tapping into that danger – recognising the animal within the rational human – is vital, not just to their music but for understanding how modern life has left us subjugated: “We are beasts, animalistic, all that we do is primal. It’s interesting to look at how the laws of nature are slowly bending as the human mind evolves, and how our perception of reality and control is narrated by outsiders. We have been subconsciously taught to obey, even through our acts of rebellion.”

Blitz Pt 1 is due to follow the single on 5 July, with a slew of gigs scheduled for the run-up to the release:

SUN 05 MAY @ Stag and Dagger – Glasgow

SAT 25 MAY @ Fulford Arms – York

SAT 01 JUN @ Camden Rocks Festival – London

MON 03 JUN @ The Moon – Cardiff
