Back in 2016, Xenomars’ video ‘Secure The Perimeter’ felt out of place. Trump had just won the election, the US wanted out of the Middle East and ISIS was about to be defeated. Almost two years later, Xenomars’ cryptic video is a brutal reminder that the conflict in Syria was planned back in 2007 and was going forward as planned. What is really at stake here? Not religion or human rights, but simply two blocks securing their strategic perimeters.

In the video, we are presented with just two levels: an aerial one with maps and jet fighters, and a ground one with oil pipelines and infrastructures. People, ideology, religion and all the propaganda we are fed has been removed by the artist. Only two masks emerge. Xenomars ask the viewers to stare at what lays behind them. Will you look?
