Soraya from Gravey opens up about losing everything and starting over in her latest track ‘Self Esteem’ from their new EP ‘Who’s Yer Daddy’.

“Nick sent me the instrumentals when I was in Brixton town hall with everything I owned, homeless, hoping to get put in emergency housing. I felt I had nothing to live for and nowhere to go.

The lyrics for ‘Self Esteem’ poured out in five minutes. It’s a personal reflection, about responsibility, pressure and frustration. I was fed up with making the same mistakes.

It’s hard to keep grounded with the distractions of empty thrills and empty sex filling our misery. We forget about ourselves. When I wrote ‘Self Esteem’ I was trying to take responsibility for the hole I’d put myself in.” Soraya
