Before The Storm: The resurgence of electronic tribalism

The first thing you notice when listening to Apaches is a sense of tribalism, unity and solace, in direct contrast with the present ever-devolving and divisive society. It might be what Japanese footwork artist, DJ Fulltono, had in mind when constructing his latest EP.

Before the Storm does a brilliant job at inducing an almost ominous sense of anticipation – a feeling that something could be waiting just around the corner.

This certainly feels like a record constructed for the dancefloor. Its tribal groove makes it perfect for the crowd, whereas its industrial sounds create a more dangerous, haunting atmosphere.
