Born in Montreal Canada, Charmian Devi is an original singer/songwriter for many years. Formerly the founder and lead singer of a cutting edge Canadian punk band formed in Vancouver, Canada, the band released two independent CDs and toured extensively across North America. Devi then went on to form a duo with collaborator John Lok, writing soulful alternative pop songs. Later Devi completed two singles “Radio of None” and “No Peace” in NYC with 3x Grammy award winning producer/engineer, Marc Urselli at Eastside Sound Studio. The musicians on this recording are Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith group), Tony Garnier ( Bob Dylan), Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth) and Brian Marsella on Hammond organ. Most recently Charmian recorded a new EP with Tony Garnier ( Bob Dylan) co-producing and playing upright bass on her latest single,“It took you by Surprise “, alongside Dan Hickey ( There Might Be Giants, the B-52s, Cyndi Lauper) on drums/percussion , Connor Kennedy on electric guitar.
