Riches are one of those bands that have the astounding ability to hold a candle to old school 60’s R&B and yet, their sound is not lazy or striving for some ill-fated authenticity.

This music has a vibrancy and dare I say it, timeless appeal, that is ably played live whenever I’ve witnessed it (far too few times).

Nicole possesses a voice of sweet honey that stays with you long after you’ve tasted its quality. So good, that it criminally steals attention away from Howie’s flawless drumming and his own vocal prowess. Their harmonies are the kind that awakens the dormant spirituality of any music cynic. Full disclosure: Nathan (producer of this session at Hermitage Works) figured Riches to be his favourite session to date. I think he still does.

Catch Riches live at the ‘Margo’s Living Room, Live show. With Honkies, Alice and The Bugs and Gaygirl in support.
