Jonty Czuchwicki

Jonty Czuchwicki, hailing from Adelaide South Australia, began writing about music in 2013 at 16 years of age. Contributing to a local record store’s blog, he soon began writing for the local magazine Rip it Up. It wasn’t long before Czuchwicki began contributing to other prominent Australian publications such as The Music, The AU Review, Happy Blog, Pilerats, TEO Magazine and Metal Obsession, developing a substantial reach as a freelance music journalist.

From 2014 and 2018 Czuchwicki’s output was consistent, publishing concert reviews, album reviews and interviews. Speaking on the record with such artists as Zakk Wylde, Burton C. Bell (Fear Factory), Greg Puciato (The Dillinger Escape Plan) and Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth), Czuchwicki had a strong engagement with the heavy metal scene, his interview with Babymetal ran in print as the national cover story for The Music and he toured Australia with The Ocean and Caligula’s Horse to pen their tour diaries.

In 2018 Czuchwicki took a sabbatical from writing to pursue higher education, where he earned a double Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance and Music Business at the Australian College of the Arts in Melbourne, graduating in 2021. Czuchwicki was then accepted into Berklee College of Music, where he studied for a Master’s Degree in Music Production, Technology and Innovation, graduating in 2023. Here he developed a live A/V show for his musical project CZUCHWICKI. Since completing his studies Jonty has returned to music journalism at his new home with Public Pressure, where he is covering boundary-pushing artists of the heavy, underground, experimental and electronic varieties.
