Ndrasa

Ndrasa (nee Sandra Bunga) was born in Rotterdam, Amsterdam in the Netherlands on June 22nd 1989. Due to the war in Angola, Ndrasa’s mother’s family fled to the neighbouring country of Previously known Zaire, presently known as Democratic Republic of Congo. From the Netherlands, to Germany the family finally immigrated to Canada in 1992. At a very young age Ndrasa had an imminent passion for music and loved to dance, especially to the African artists from Congo and Angola etc… many such as Werrason, Carlyto Lassa, Koffi Olomide, Fally Ipupa, Papa Wemba, Bonga, Camilo Domingos etc… But after the family immigrated to Canada on Vancouver Island, in the small town of Duncan she later discovered different genres and more anglophone music. She was introduced to 90’s electronica as well as the rise of the early hip hop and r&b when her family moved to Ottawa, Ontario where her and her siblings were mostly raised. By the time Sandra was nine years old, she came to realize she not only had a passion for music, but was intrigued by the idea of becoming an entertainer. She was placed in violin classes when she was in grade 3-4 but later grew more interest in sports such as basketball , soccer and handball. It was the encouraging words from her late grandfather and religion teacher in grade 7, whom further pushed her to wanting to pursue a career in music. Now Ndrasa used a mixture of the music she has grown up and modern day r&b and alt R&B elements and inspirations such as Tanerelle, SZA, Snoh Aalegra, H.E.R, the Internet, INNU, Omar Apollo, Saint levant, 6lack, SiR and many more with a laid back 90’s style. She released a self titled album back in 2013 but after a long hiatus from music, she is returning with a new sound. Her sound is a mix of soulful melodies and catchy rhythmic hooks. Her love to experiment with different genres and use her voice to tell stories from slow ballads to up tempo grooves will be apparent from track to track. The project “REDWINEMUSIC” features other artists from across Canada and around the world for all listeners in English and French, with an anticipated release in 2024. Starting with the debut release of “Your Favourite Brown Eyes”. This project will display her passion for creating music that moves people.
